Fans were treated to a special glimpse of Christina Ricci in Tim Burton’s upcoming Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday.

The sarcastic, yet totally iconic character will be getting her very own live-action show, directed by Tim Burton who is behind the likes of Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas, making his television directing debut.

The coming-of-age comedy horror will follow Wednesday’s years at Nevermore Academy, where she will learn to develop and hone her abilities.

What are those abilities? Psychic powers. In doing so, she aims to prevent a killing spree gripping her local town and solve a mystery that involved her parents two decades before.

Penelope actress Ricci famously played Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and Addams Family Values (1993).

The eerie trailer begins with a black car entering Nevermore Academy, and also shows Catherine Zeta-Jones in character as Morticia and Luis Guzman as Gomez.

‘Good evening girls,’ she says to Wednesday (Jenny).

‘I’m Miss Thornhill. I trust Enid has given you the old Nevermore welcome.’

Although it’s been more than 30 years since Ricci played the iconic character, she couldn’t stop raving about Jenny’s ‘incredible’ performance.
