Olly Murs and his fiancé Amelia Tank seem all loved up from their social media posts and hilarious TikTok pranks, but it turns out things haven’t always been so rosy in their relationship.
The Voice coach started dating the bodybuilder in 2019 and they got engaged in June this year, with Olly popping the question during a romantic getaway.
Olly has since credited Amelia for helping him overhaul his lifestyle too, as he’s quit drinking and now follows a fitness plan.
However, when they were first getting to know each other, the X Factor star admits he took a while to let his guard down with Amelia, as he questioned whether someone could be with him for the ‘right reasons.’
‘I thought, “She’s a right sort”,’ he told The Mirror, confessing that he was very ‘wishy-washy’ for their first few dates and ‘very noncommittal.’

‘I broke it off, but we rekindled things in the summer. I had an epiphany. I was like, “What am I doing, she’s f*****g perfect, she’s the one for me. Stop being an idiot!”.’
Fortunately, their relationship has only gone from strength to strength since then, as the pop star – who recently returned with new music after a four-year hiatus – asked Amelia to move into his Essex mansion while holidaying in Bali in February 2020.
Unbeknownst to the lovebirds, the Covid-19 lockdown was around the corner, but he says this period of time only made him certain that he wanted to marry Amelia, leading to that romantic proposal on a clifftop in Cornwall two years later.

Olly also hails Amelia for being there for him during his darkest times, as it was during that Bali trip he found out that longtime friend and TV presenter Caroline Flack had died.
Amelia then nursed Olly earlier this year after emergency knee surgery left him unable to walk for 12 weeks.
‘I knew after six months of being with Amelia, genuinely, this is it,’ Olly revealed.
‘I thought at the time, “I can’t propose now, it’s too soon, she’ll run a mile!”
‘Then lockdown came and what happened with Caz came. It was a f****d-up time. Amelia saw me at my worst, at my lowest, proper bad.’

It’s no surprise that Amelia, 30, is the inspiration behind much of Olly’s forthcoming album, Marry Me, as he admits he’s ‘in love’ and no longer fears press attention towards his love life like before.
‘I’m in love, I’m feeling great, I’m going into work happy. I’m not under any stress, like, “I’ve got to go on a date tonight and I don’t know what she’s going to be like,” or, “What if a pap gets me going out on a date?” It was such a stress being single,’ he revealed.

They’re well and truly living in a ‘little bubble,’ along with their dog, Missy, and Olly is determined to ‘savour’ every moment.
‘Now I don’t care who sees me. As long as I’m with her, it doesn’t matter.’
