Former Tory trade minister Conor Burns has responded to Mel B’s claims that he made a remark to her in a lift.
Mr Burns, 50, was dismissed from his position and suspended from the party after allegations emerged of inappropriate behaviour at the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham.
The politician later released a statement explaining that he looked forward to clearing his name following the misconduct claim.
Spice Girls star Mel B, 47, addressed his statement in a tweet on Friday, which read: ‘Really?? Your shocked about this complaint??? Let me remind you what you said me in lift….. [sic]’
However, Mr Burns appeared to be perplexed by Mel B’s comment and told PA: ‘I believe I have never met Mel.’
It came days after Mel B, full name Melanie Brown, attended the Conservative Party Conference to deliver a powerful speech calling for more support for survivors of domestic abuse and an improved justice system.

During the event, which was co-hosted by charity Women’s Aid, the Wannabe singer recalled her own ordeal of domestic abuse and said: ‘I’m probably the last person you would expect to find at a Tory party conference’.
‘I am not here because I am Mel B, Scary Spice from the Spice Girls, I am here because I am Melanie Brown MBE.’

She continued: ‘I put on a smile for the cameras because that is my job and I know I am really good at it as well.
‘I couldn’t pick up the phone to call my mum, my friends, I didn’t have access to anything, and you think, well, Spice Girls are all about girl power, but let me tell you, when these abusers get their hooks into you, there is no way out, really – so you think.’
In his statement addressing the controversy, Mr Burns wrote that he was not given ‘any information about the complaint’ nor was he asked to ‘provide any information’ when he received a call from the chief whip.
The Whips’ Office said the Tory whip had been suspended pending an investigation into ‘allegations of inappropriate behaviour earlier this week’.
