Christina Aguilera has announced a new music video for her hit song Beautiful in honour of its 20th anniversary.

Beautiful is arguably one of the star’s most iconic songs, alongside the likes of Dirrty, Lady Marmalade, and Fighter.

Released back in 2002 (feeling old yet?) on her album Stripped, the song earned Christina a Grammy for best female pop vocal performance, and we can totally understand why with that high note.

Two decades on, the star has surprised her fans by revealing the empowerment anthem will have its time to shine once again, as she broke the news on World Mental Health Day (October 10).

Sharing a snippet of the 2022 music video for Beautiful, she wrote on Instagram: ‘In celebration of the 20 year anniversary of Stripped and World Mental Health Day, I’m honoured to share a new music video for Beautiful, coming October 19th 💜’.

Christine added: ‘Tune out and turn in. Take your space, log off, put your mind, body, and soul first.’

Beautiful has become a meaningful song for thousands of people, with how its lyrics discuss insecurity, self-esteem, and body image (we’ve all had a cry to it at some point).

The track has become especially important for members of the LGBTQ+ community, as the OG music video features a gay couple kissing on a bench, ignoring the stares of passersby, as well as a transgender woman putting on make-up and a wig.

It also depicts Christina singing alone in her bedroom before cutting to self-image related sequences from other people, including a girl with anorexia analysing her appearance in the mirror, and an African American woman tearing out pages of women’s magazines, which only feature white women, and burning them.

And it seems the forthcoming 2022 music video is about to be just as hard-hitting, as the teaser video shows a group of young girls, seemingly dancers, all looking identical and applying make-up.

The girls were blue two-pieces and bright eyeshadow and lipstick to match, as they sit in front of a ring light, looking at their phones, and piling on the blush.

As the clip plays, a bunch of voices can be heard in the background, spouting phrases such as, ‘Life for a man is harder than life for a woman,’ and, ‘To be a woman, you need make-up.’

We have every reason to believe the forthcoming music vid will be equally as emotional as the first, and Christina’s fans are already eating it up.

‘This song and the Stripped album was a godsend to me, especially as a high schooler when it was released. Thank you and congratulations on this milestone,’ one fan commented on her Instagram.

Another declared: ‘This will save lives.’

Famous friend Paris Hilton also commented that the video already looks ‘iconic’ and, honestly, we agree.
