Kerry Katona has revealed she is freezing her eggs, aged 42, so her partner Ryan Mahoney has the option to be father to his own children, if he wants to in the future.

The Atomic Kitten singer appeared on Loose Women today when she made the announcement.

Katona is mum to five children, after welcoming her first child Molly-Marie McFadden in 2001 with Brian McFadden.

She later welcomed daughter Lilly-Sue with the Westlife star, before having Heidi and Maxwell with ex-husband Mark Croft.

Katona also has a daughter Dylan-Jorge with late ex-husband George Kay.

‘The thing is my other half is eight years younger than me,’ Katona began, teasing: ‘I can still pull them love!’

‘He has no children of his own and me and the kids are enough for him, more than enough for him, and he’s happy with that.

‘But I also don’t want to rob him of that option.’

She continued: ‘Things might change in the future, I’m 42, I know I’ve not got much time left, there might not be that many eggs left anyway.

‘Boiled, scrambled, fried, you pick I don’t know.

‘So I think getting them frozen, and having that option there – I’d never carry a child again because I nearly died with DJ, DJ did die, she’s alive now – I think that’s my body saying enough is enough, but having the option there, to have a surrogate, you know, it’s there.’

This comes after Katona and Mahoney revealed they had taken the first steps in their surrogacy journey last year.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! winner revealed that she wanted to expand her family, and welcome her sixth child.

She previously explained that she is ‘physically unable’ to carry another pregnancy after a ‘traumatic’ birth with her fifth child, daughter Dylan-Jorge, with the couple turning to other options.

During an appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch, the couple shared that they have an appointment to check Katona’s eggs out.

‘In fact, we have got an appointment tomorrow about getting my eggs harvested,’ she told the host.

‘That is the next step, and that is as far as we are going.’

Elsewhere on Loose Women, Katona broke down in tears as she reflected on the abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband Kay.

The former Atomic Kitten star was married to Kay for three years from 2014.

However behind closed doors violence was rife in the relationship, with Katona speaking out about what she went through in her new memoir, and third book, Kerry Katona: Whole Again.

Kay died in 2019, after the Rugby League player reportedly ate ‘a ball of cocaine’ at a Holiday Inn in Cheshire.

‘I wouldn’t change the abuse, the drugs or the drink or the bankruptcy or the foster homes because I am where I am supposed to be today,’ she added to the Loose Women.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
