The Twitch streamer who broke her back at TwitchCon has revealed that her injuries are much worse than initially assumed, after undergoing a lengthy surgery.
TwitchCon 2022 has been quite disastrous for some streamers, and particularly Adriana Chechik who broke her back in two places after jumping in a foam pit.
The event returned after a two year hiatus, due to the coronavirus pandemic, and though it had some fun moments, like Amouranth stepping on her fans, it didn’t go as smoothly as planned.
Chechik wasn’t the only one to get injured at the controversial pit, as fellow streamer LochVaness dislocated her knee and had to use a wheelchair for the rest of the event.
Luckily, Chechik was quickly transferred to the hospital, but once there doctors informed her that they would have to put a meter rod in her back.
Throughout this whole time, she was sharing updates with her fans on Twitter, saying she was in immense pain and that she was scared to get surgery.
After her five-and-a-half hour surgery Chechik revealed that the situation was worse than expected.
She said that doctors had to do more spinal fusions and that her bones were ‘completely crushed.’ Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure used to correct problems with the small bones in the spine (vertebrae). It’s essentially a welding process.
Chechik also suffered nerve damage to her bladder and said she hopes that she’ll be able to ‘pee again in the near future.’ She ended her short Twitter update on a positive note saying that she’s doing good overall.
Twitch hasn’t addressed the injuries caused by the foam pit yet, and the circumstances around the incidents are still coming to light. Chechik also claims that the announcers told her to ‘walk it off’ and that it was an off duty paramedic who stepped in to help her.
Some visitors have claimed that TwitchCon organisers didn’t prepare well for big crowds or take the necessary security measures, especially after reports of fans fainting and having panic attacks after waiting for hours to get into the Dream SMP’s panel.
The ball pit, though, was a promotion for Intel and Lenovo, and there’s already been speculation as to whether they or Twitch will be held responsible.

On top of that, Minecraft YouTuber Dream also suffered injuries and bruises on his face and shoulders, after he fell off his bed while sleeping. Although that was nobody’s fault but himself.
Hopefully, everyone who got injured during this frantic weekend feels better soon, and if you still want to attend TwitchCon next year, you might want to bring an extra bandage… or two.
