Alison Hammond might have missed out on the National Television Award for best TV presenter to Ant and Dec, but she took it in light spirits.
The presenter had been tipped to end Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly’s 21-year streak of winning the NTA, but the Geordie duo managed to nab it once again.
Despite missing out on her solo award, Alison joined the rest of the This Morning team on stage a little while later to celebrate the win for best daytime show.
After Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby shared their own thank-you speeches, Phillip offered up the microphone to Alison to have her say.
She told the audience: ‘Can I just say we are all so grateful for this award, honestly. I think This Morning is a mood, I ain’t gonna lie.
‘Now we all know… I should have won one of these as well!

‘But do you know what, Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legends that are Ant and Dec are amazing, but let’s be honest, I should have won one, innit!
‘But This Morning got one anyway, well done This Morning, yay!’
Phillip and Dermot O’Leary were seen cracking up as Alison delivered her speech to the audience at Wembley Arena.

Ant and Dec have won the best TV presenter award every single year since 2001 but were unable to accept their 21st NTA in the category this year after both contracting Covid.
Stephen Mulhern accepted the award on their behalf, telling the crowds: ‘Ant and Dec obviously can’t be here for obvious reasons…’
He joked: ‘Listen, full respect to the guys, 21 years on the trot – come on. But the reality is, this baby is coming home with me.’
Ant and Dec had thanked fans from afar, with Dec tweeting: ‘Oi @StephenMulhern, it took ages to write that speech!!!
‘Thank you SO much for voting for us, it is always appreciated and never taken for granted. You’ve made us feel tons better! Huge love, D.’
Ant added: ‘Oi Mulhern!! I’m watching you from home. Keep that award safe and we will see you at work soon (if you’re lucky!)
‘A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us. From the bottom of our [heart] we are so so grateful. love ya’s! A.’
