The Rings of Power, the prequel series to Lord of the Rings, has become a huge success since it first launched last month, and shows no signs of slowing down.

The premiere episode attracted more than 25million viewers around the world when it was released, instantly becoming one of the most popular shows on Amazon Prime Video.

The streaming platform recently announced that viewers would be getting an extra slice of the epic fantasy in celebration, with a companion podcast hosted by Felicia Day to mark the finale – filled with intimate cast and crew interviews, and a deep dive into every single Easter egg that we may have missed.

Superfan Felicia caught up with Metro.co.uk at New York Comic-Con and shed some light on what fans can expect.

‘As I’ve seen the episodes, I’ve gotten more and more nerdy,’ she laughed. ‘Going and searching about every single thing, looking up Easter eggs and seeing things that the showrunners have clearly put in as an acknowledgment to the more hardcore fans.

‘It has been a joy to not only do that exploration for myself, but just to interview the amazing cast and crew that brought this show to life because it truly is an epic show.

‘The first couple episodes, you cannot imagine how many nods there are.

‘The podcast really has a lot of deep diving, especially with the finale. But I will tell you that there are some fun Easter eggs in the background of a couple of shots, and there’s some Easter eggs with Finrod (Will Fletcher), Galadriel’s brother, which I thought were really interesting.

‘I definitely feel like, even when the lore is shifted a little bit to accommodate the narrative, they really have what existed at the heart of the show.’

The presenter stopped short of revealing what we should be on the lookout for, but heaped praise on those behind the scenes for putting so much work into the smallest of details.

‘I think that’s really a testament to the creators, they are true Tolkien fans,’ she told us. ‘They really do want to honor the original source material.

‘Even though within the confines of a television show and accomplishing the stories they want to accomplish, they do have to shift some things, but there’s a fundamental spine of the lore and the source material.

‘The more times I watched the episode, the more layers I realized they had put on because they know that material so well.’

Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait as all eight episodes are available on October 14 on Amazon Music, just in time for the final episode of the season.

Making sure to not give any spoilers away, Felicia praised the show bosses for wrapping the program up in such a satisfying way, but still leaving room to expand in the next series.

‘I am blown away how they resolved so many storylines in the eight and yet left so many questions where you absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next season,’ she added. ‘They did a great job of that.

‘I was almost yelling at the screen, “No, you can stop there” in a sense. But, at the same time, it did feel complete, not in a frustrating cliffhanger way. So I’m very excited for people to see it, and also to just step back and take the season as a whole because it is almost one huge movie.
