Tori Spelling explained how fronting her latest dating show made her fall in love with love again.
MTV’s latest reality series Love at First Lie, consists of eight couples trying to convince each other that they’re in love, but there’s a catch, it’s the public who’ll ultimately separate the real from the fake.
Living together in a lavish villa in Malta, the pairs compete in a series of challenges testing compatibility. The tasks will allow viewers to understand their dynamics and help them spot the ‘fake’ couples.
And each episode ends with a climactic Truth Ceremony where $25,000 (£22,360) is at stake.
The Beverley Hills 90210 icon, who will be guiding fans as the drama unfolds, exclusively told Metro.co.uk that her own personal views clouded her judgement when it came to seeing the couples interact.
‘You know what, a lot of the time I would be like “oh they don’t kiss or hold hands, they must not be a real couple,’ she said.
‘But they would be, and then we would find out why they didn’t do all of that. So, it was an interesting concept to watch. ‘
The Donna Martin actress – who shares children Liam, 15, Stella, 14, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, five, with husband Dean McDermott – also reflected on how the dating programme has turned her into a hopeless romantic.
‘I can say that it definitely reinspired me, I think we all take love for granted especially when you’ve been in a relationship for so long,’ she added.

‘So it reinspired me about loving love again and believing it exists on so many different levels. Watching these couples and really analysing them, helped me take away things that I can use in my future. It made me feel that love does rule and does conquer all.’
Despite the show’s brutal premise of eliminating the fake, the TV personality, 49, revealed she got ‘super invested in the couples,’ but also warned that viewers will be in for a bumpy ride.

‘There are some insane moments,’ she enthused. There was one moment when security had to come in and break a fight up, it was crazy. So real drama.’
Prior to her breakout role on Beverley Hills 90210 – which launched Brian Austin Green and Shannen Doherty into stardom- Tori had guest roles in Saved by the Bell, The Love Boat, and Fantasy Island.
Love at First Lie airs every Thursday at 10pm on MTV.
