Dame Kelly Holmes has revealed she was very disappointed that Holly and Phil’s This Morning pipped Loose Women to the post at the National Television Awards 2022.
The 52-year-old, who came out as gay in June this year, recently joined the ITV talk show as a panellist and was very much gunning for it to win the Daytime gong at the glitzy bash.
However, the team was beaten by This Morning, who were booed amid the queue-gate backlash as they accepted the award, in a category that also included The Chase and The Repair shop.
At Wembly on Thursday, her co-star Linda Robson could not conceal her frustration Loose Women didn’t walk home with the prize in a priceless reaction.
But Dame Kelly, who has won two Olympic gold medals, made her thoughts clear the day after as she appeared on the panel show and reflect on the event hosted by comedian Joel Dommett.
In reference to her illustrious sporting career, eliminated Strictly star Kaye Adams said: ‘I’ll tell you what Kelly as a born winner I was watching your face when we didn’t win because I thought what’s Dame Kelly Holmes gonna do when we lose.’
She replied: ‘I’m not very good at hiding when I’m disappointed,’ before reacting recoiling in horror.

Dame Kelly added: ‘I had to swear a little bit and then come back up.
‘I mean nothing I have nothing against This Morning at all but we were like really revved up, we’d had so much energy.’

Dame Kelly then confessed she didn’t enjoy red carpet but managed to have a whale of a time with her Loose Women gang.
The athlete joined the programme in September, adding that she’s up for ‘any mad experiences’ that come her way.
She added: ‘I am extremely excited about joining Loose Women. Having met a few of the panellists recently, I know that the shows will be full of energy, smiles, tears and lots of laughs.’
Loose Women airs from 12.30pm on weekdays on ITV.
