Lewis Capaldi has responded to an angry viewer after his keyboard player was spotted swearing at the camera during the National Television Awards on Thursday night.

The chart-topper, 26, performed his new single Forget Me to a celeb-packed crowd of TV giants such as Ricky Gervais, Alison Hammond, and This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield who actually got booed by members of the audience following ‘queue-gate’.

Well, while the audience bopped along to Capaldi’s latest number one, his keyboard player was well riled at the cameraperson simply doing their job for reasons unbeknown to us.

‘Lewis Capaldi’s Keyboard player just Mouthed F*£k off at the camera man!! What an unprofessional little turd,’ complained one viewer on Twitter.

Responding to the post, Capaldi wrote: ‘I agree Pete, totally unacceptable, will be having words. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.’

By ‘words’ it later appeared he meant finger, specifically the middle one, which he stuck up at said keyboard player on the way home.

Alongside a picture of himself flipping the bird he wrote: ‘This one’s for you Pete brother.’

Capaldi’s chaotic keyboard player was one of the many highlights to come from the NTAs.

Sir Lenny Henry received a standing ovation as he accepted a special recognition award and made a sly dig at Holly and Phil after they accepted their gong.

Anneka Rice confused everyone by announcing the wrong winner and Alison Hammond just went out and said she deserved an NTA over Ant and Dec who won best presenter for a stagger 21st consecutive year.

The National Television Awards is available to stream on ITV Hub.
