Yasmin Evans is ready to get her sequins on and shimmy across the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom after revealing her dreams of appearing on the hit series.
The Heart Radio presenter has made her ‘obsession’ with the BBC competition crystal clear and has even put her agent on the case of getting her signed up for the show.
However, luck wasn’t on her side this year with Strictly currently in full swing with the likes of Will Mellor, Fleur East and Kym Marsh among those who won a spot on the line-up.
Sharing her Strictly dreams with Metro.co.uk, Yasmin said: ‘This is the one that I don’t mind saying – I don’t know who I need to talk to to get on Strictly Come Dancing. Every year I ask my agent, “what are we doing? Please put me in for Strictly Come Dancing because I’m obsessed with it”.
‘This year wasn’t my year but that’s OK.’
The 31-year-old, who recently partnered with eBay to host their sneaker store event in Manchester, added: ‘I am actually going to go and watch it at some point this series so I’m really looking forward to that but unfortunately, didn’t get chosen this year, did put myself forward.

‘I don’t know who I need to talk to but I’m ready to put a little sequin on.
‘I don’t like to beg but when it’s my time, it’s my time and I’ll be in full dancing mode.’
Hopefully an old friend can put a good word in for Yasmin, who was part of the BBC family until last year.
The DJ announced she was leaving Radio 1Xtra in December 2021 after nine years at the station, and has found a new home at Global’s Heart.
Reflecting on her decision to quit, Yasmin said: ‘When I left, I didn’t know I was going to get the job at Heart. I thought I was going to stop doing radio then Heart gave me the opportunity and it was a total change. I had to unlearn everything, relearn and I’m still learning everyday at Heart.’
She continued: ‘It’s a completely different audience, completely different backgrounds, you’re working with completely different people as well, but I feel quite comfortable in knowing that what I gained from 1Xtra, to take a little bit of that into Heart, Global Radio space, which is something they’re not used to – let’s be honest, they’ve probably heard of hardly any of the artists we played at 1Xtra.
‘Maybe Stormzy at a push. So it’s nice to go over there and bring what I learnt at the BBC over, and hopefully it’s working.’
