WWE SmackDown started on a chaotic note as Karrion Kross and Scarlett had been involved in a car crash at the arena in New Orleans.
As Friday night’s show went on air, viewers saw a pile up of cars, ambulances and more outside the venue as commentator Michael Cole talked viewers through the wild scenes.
Drew McIntyre took out Kross with another attack after their brutal Strap Match at Extreme Rules, keeping the feud going and effectively ruling his rival out of the main event.
We were told he was being examined by medical personnel during the show, and WWE boss Triple H was seen talking to police officers outside his office, while Kross was scheduled to face Ricochet, Solo Sikoa and Sheamus in the main event.
The winner of that match was to become the Number One Contender to GUNTHER and his Intercontinental Championship.
Triple H was approached by masked legend Rey Mysterio, who shocked fans by trying to quit after becoming to emotionally run down by his family feud with son Dominik over the past few weeks.
‘I can’t do this anymore, I’m sorry,’ he told Triple H in an emotional exchange. ‘You know I love WWE, this is my home. But I wanted to come to you tonight, look you in the eye and tell you… I quit.’
Triple H wasn’t ready to accept that, as The Game invited Rey into his office to discuss other options, and it turns out they found a solution as the main event rolled round.
Ricochet, Sheamus and Sikoa made their entrances only for Kross to be removed from the bout and replaced by the Master of the 619 to a huge roar from the crowd.
It all set up Rey for a fantastic win, and the ultimate underdog pinned Ricochet after a 619 and Frog Splash combo, putting himself in line for a huge match with GUNTHER.
Imperium, the Brawling Brutes and the Bloodline all got involved, and things are really heating up for the blue brand.
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
