The Crown season 5 will not show the exact moment of Princess Diana’s death but will depict the events leading up to it, Netflix has confirmed.
Netflix fans are gearing up for the release of the fifth and final season of the hit period drama, which recounts key events in the British Royal Family’s history with creative licence, and will star Dominic West as King Charles III, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II.
The next set of episodes will follow Princess Diana and the breakdown of her marriage to the then-Prince Charles, while also featuring their children Princes William and Harry.
However, some of those involved in production allegedly felt uncomfortable with Princess Diana’s death being recreated.
The Princess of Wales died on August 31, 1997 at the age of 36 when a car carrying the Royal and her partner Dodi Fayed crashed in a tunnel in Paris, France.
One source told The Sun: ‘To be going back to Paris and turning Diana’s final days and hours into a drama feels very uncomfortable.

‘Finally, some of the crew members are pushing back on the ideas being tabled.’
They added that some of the events covered in the anticipated final season are still ‘so fresh and upsetting’ that it ‘feels as though a line is being crossed’.
‘Some production staff are now starting to speak up about their feelings,’ the insider claimed.

However, a Netflix spokesperson told the publication: ‘The exact moment of the crash impact will not be shown.’
According to PA, the series will show the lead-up to the fatal incident as well as its aftermath, but not the crash itself.
It comes after Sir John Major described upcoming scenes, which reportedly depict the King, then the Prince of Wales, plotting to oust the Queen, as ‘malicious nonsense’.

The new series, which will launch on November 9, is expected to show the King cutting short a holiday with Diana to host a secret meeting with former prime minister Sir John at Highgrove in 1991.
A spokeswoman for The Crown said: ‘The Crown has always been presented as a drama based on historical events.
‘Series five is a fictional dramatisation, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors during a significant decade for the royal family – one that has already been scrutinised and well-documented by journalists, biographers and historians.’
The Crown season 5 will arrive on Netflix on November 9.
