Piers Morgan has urged Liz Truss to resign after Jeremy Hunt reversed nearly all of her and Kwasi Kwarteng’s tax changes.
The TalkTV broadcaster was among those to call on the Prime Minister to step down after Mr Hunt’s mini budget announcement.
He wrote on Twitter: ‘Resign @trussliz – it will be the only good decision you’ve taken as Prime Minister.’
Responding to a tweet from her account, he added: ‘Please, for the love of God, shut up. Nobody believes a word you say any more. Just go.’
Piers went on to say: ‘Britain deserves and urgently needs better than this ongoing clown show. If the Tories can’t get their act together asap and show the country proper leadership (not Truss) at a time of real crisis, they must call an election and let us decide who we want in charge.’
He’s not the only one to be speaking up, with Rylan Clark tweeting: ‘This government. Absolute joke,’ and adding a gif of Gavin and Stacey’s Nessa, played by Ruth Jones, declaring: ‘I make a lot of it up, Bryn’.
Comedian Frankie Boyle weighed in, saying: ‘Can we go back into national mourning?’
Channel 4’s Krishnan Guru Murthy replied to a tweet about Ms Truss, saying: ‘Will anyone tell her the game is up?’

It’s not the first time Piers has slammed Ms Truss, taking aim at her and Mr Kwarteng earlier this month for their U-turn on their tax policies.
Mr Hunt unveiled part of his plan to stabilise Britain’s finances in a last-minute emergency statement this morning.
Help with energy bills for all households will only last until April, rather than the two years previously promised.
A review to look at a ‘new approach’ to target support at those worst off will take place after that.
He also confirmed he is ditching many of the measures in the mini-budget, including the planned cut to income tax – which will remain at 20p indefinitely ‘until circumstances allow’.
