America’s Got Talent and The Voice star Nolan Neal’s cause of death has been confirmed, with the musician dying from an ‘accidental’ drug overdose.

In July this year, it was announced that the singer had died at the age of 41, having been found at his home in Nashville.

The musician first gained widespread recognition in 2020 when he competed on season 15 of America’s Got Talent, before starring on The Voice USA the following year.

When Neal’s death was first announced, a cause of death was not revealed.

It has now been determined that he died from ‘acute combined drug toxicity’, with his death being ruled as an accident, New York Post’s Page Six and other media outlets reported through confirmation from a spokesperson at the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office in Nashville.

They added that the drugs found in the singer’s system were reportedly morphine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and acetyl fentanyl.

Before Neal’s cause of death was confirmed, his cousin Dylan Seals told People that he had ‘ultimately succumbed to his battle with substance abuse’.

Following the singer’s death, America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell paid tribute to him, saying: ‘Unfortunately, it happens too much over the years.’

‘I was thinking about this the other day. People [who] passed too soon. Every time it happens, because you’ve got to know them, it’s horrible,’ he told People at the time.

‘The unfortunate thing is it’s happened too many times and every time it happens, it’s hard.’

The media mogul also spoke about the death of fellow AGT contestant Jane ‘Nightbirde’ Marczewski, who died in February after suffering from cancer.

‘After the last three years, it’s been tough. And then, you think everything’s okay and then something hits you like a story like that and it’s hard,’ he said.

‘But all I can say is, what I’ve learned from this, is that you just take every day as it is and you try and stay positive, you try and stay healthy. You’re never prepared for these days.’

When Nolan took part in America’s Got Talent in 2020, he auditioned with a song called Lost, which he explained was the first song he wrote after overcoming substance abuse issues.

He later performed an original track called Send Me A Butterfly, which earned him a spot in the quarter-finals.
