Another baker has bid an emotional farewell to the Great British Bake Off tent tonight, with Dawn being the sixth contestant out of the competition.

During the latest instalment of the beloved annual series, the competitors did their best to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in Halloween week, as they were tasked to create an apple cake for the spine-tingling signature.

Kevin’s apple bobbing was unfortunately branded a ‘bit of a mess,’ by Prue, while Paul said he wanted a ‘cake not a pudding.’

The terrifying technical involved the bakers making eight s’mores. However, it was Abdul’s campfire treat that failed to impress the judges with him placing seventh, while IT manager Dawn placed fifth.

For the showstopper, the contestants had to pull out all the stops and create a hanging lantern out of whatever they wished.

Dawn’s ‘A Cat In A Fancy Hat’ lantern was branded ‘basic and simple’ by Paul while Prue praised her jelly eyes.

“Our merry band will remain friends, I’m sure of that!”

However, in the end, Paul and Prue decided that it was time for her to exit the tent, becoming the sixth baker to do so after Will, Maisam, James, Rebs and Carole.

As he left the show, she said: ‘I really don’t want to shed tears over this because it’s been the best experience of my life.

‘I can’t wish for more than that. I’m really proud of what I’ve done. I’m so proud.’

Meanwhile, Halloween week also saw Maxy become emotional after she received a handshake from Paul.

Abdul took the title prestige title of this week’s Star Baker while Syabira earned the top spot in the technical challenge.

The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
