‘They’re so in love with one another’: One Of Us Is Lying stars Cooper van Grootel and Marianly Tejada tease Nate and Bronwyn romance-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

After what feels like the longest wait, One Of Us Is Lying is finally back this week for season two and it’s like the Bayview Four never left.

The first series of the Peacock program ended in typically dramatic form as the aptly named Murder Club – made up of Nate, Bronwyn, Cooper and Addy – battled to clear their names after the death of fellow classmate Simon (Mark McKenna), before uncovering Jake’s (Barrett Carnahan) role in his demise.

Throughout the drama, Nate (Cooper van Grootel) and Bronwyn (Marianly Tejada) endured a will-they-won’t-they relationship and the suspicions against the gang only brought them closer – until he claimed that they couldn’t be together.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk ahead of the release of season two, on October 20, talk turned to their bond and whether we’ll get any closure in the new episodes.

‘We end on them being apart at the end of season one,’ Cooper explained. ‘I think that, come season two, it’s very much like we can’t be seen together. For everyone, for all the characters, we can’t be seen together because we’re suspects.

‘In terms of Bronwyn and Nate, when put under such a high-pressure situation, they have to really learn to work through their differences and embrace the conflict and communicate in a way more mature way, because they’ve established that connection now.

‘They’re so in love with one another that they will go to the ends of the earth to make it work.’

‘How romantic,’ Marianly jokingly interjected, to which he replied: ‘I’m a romantic at heart, what can I say?’

‘I agree with Cooper,’ his co-star continued. ‘We start the season with them not being together, so it gives [them] room to embark on a journey.

‘These are very different individuals, and very strong individuals, so there’s friction. But, at the end of the day, when they start communicating about their differences and understanding each other on a deeper level, we see the relationship flourish a little bit more, and it’s great.’

The pair also had their say on the ship names floating around for their characters, and revealed which – between Natewyn and Brate – they preferred.

Side note: We’re team Brate all the way.

‘Brate is right, Natewyn is right, everyone’s right,’ Marianly laughed. ‘Love it all.

‘We actually had this discussion last season about are we going to call the characters Brate or Natewyn and I wanted Brate more.’

‘I feel like I definitely wanted Natewyn more, but I love all of them. Whatever the fans and the people want to…,’ Cooper said.

‘The fact that we have our own ship name and hashtag, I think that’s damn cool. Whatever it is, Natewyn or Brate.’

Marianly added: ‘We’ve reached the goal.’

We’ll have to see if Bronwyn and Nate can overcome their differences when One Of Us Is Lying returns.
