Anne Hathaway has never been more relatable after running off in the middle of her interview to meet her apparent idol Issa Rae

The Devil Wears Prada actress was initially the picture of class and composure as she gracefully conducted a red carpet at Elle’s 29th annual Women In Hollywood event where she was honoured for her award-winning career.

Despite her being woman of the night, Anne, 39, was only interested in celebrating another of Hollywood’s talented women.

A clip has gone viral of the moment the Les Miserables actress abruptly halted her interview with People after hearing Insecure star Issa, 37, bellowing her name from behind.

Anne momentarily appeared startled but her demeanour immediately changed after seeing it was none other than Issa beckoning her over.

After kindly apologising to the reporter for the interruption, Anne rushed over to her new friend while fawning: ‘I’m so sorry but heaven is calling.’

Issa was equally thrilled to finally meet the star and said in her famously cool yet friendly manner: ‘What up, Anne?’

Showering her new bestie with compliments, Issa added: ‘You’ve been killing every single look. God dang. You’re gorgeous.’

Anne looked flattered with the kind words and told Issa they’d talk ‘more on that later’.

Returning to finish the interview, Anne was still seeing stars and said: ‘That was my goal for tonight. Tonight is already a win.’

Fans were equally here for the new friendship blossoming before their very eyes and have called for the pair to team up for a new movie.

‘Put them on a film together immediately,’ one fan cried on Twitter, while another suggested: ‘A sequel to Date Night with Anne would be super fun.’

One added: ‘This was hella cute.’

A particularly excited fan said: ‘SO CUTE!!!!  @IssaRae couldn’t even walk past her!  Anne looked so good she stopped dead in her tracks!!!!  Lol!  I agree with Anne, tho…ISSA RAE IS EVERYTHING!!!!!!’

Another cheered: ‘There Anneissance is here. What a redemption arc this woman is having!’

They were referring to the criticism Anne received after winning an Oscar in 2013 with many deeming the actress ‘annoying’.

Reflecting on the difficult era, Anne said during her speech at the Elle event: ‘10 years ago, I was given an opportunity to look at the language of hatred from a new perspective.

‘When your self-inflicted pain is suddenly somehow amplified back at you at, say, the full volume of the internet… It’s a thing.’

She continued: ‘When what happened, happened, I realised I had no desire to have anything to do with this line of energy. On any level. I would no longer create art from this place.

‘I would no longer hold space for it, live in fear of it, nor speak its language for any reason. To anyone. Including myself.

‘Hate seems to me to be the opposite of life; in soil that harsh, nothing can grow properly, if at all.’
