Bidding site eBay has intervened to clamp down on Jeffrey Dahmer inspired costumes for this Halloween.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer series became the second most watched English speaking show on Netflix ever last month, overtaking Bridgerton as millions binged the Ryan Murphy series based on the serial killer.

Subsequently, sick fans have been on the hunt to dress as Dahmer, who killed 17 victims between 1978 and 1991, usually drugging and raping them before mutilating their corpses and eating some of their remains.

A spokesperson for eBay has confirmed the company is taking action to ban Dahmer inspired costumes with its policy stressing there is no place for ‘items closely associated with or that benefit violent felons, their acts, or crime scenes within the past 100 years’ on its website.

Many items associated with Dahmer have been found on the site, including his unique glasses, blonde wigs and even a took kit similar to the one Evan Peters is seen using on the show.

The mother of one of Dahmer’s victims has said she is ‘outraged’ by costumes inspired by the man who murdered her son.

Shirley Hughes, mother of a deaf victim of Dahmer, Tony Hughes, blamed Netflix for popularising Dahmer outfits.

‘If Netflix hadn’t streamed the show, none of the families would be re-victimised… and then there’d be no Dahmer costumes this year,’ she told TMZ.

Murphy and Peters have both previously insisted that the horror series intended to tell the stories of the victims.

‘We had one rule going into this from Ryan [Murphy] that it would never be told from Dahmer’s point of view,’ Evan said.

‘As an audience, you’re not really sympathising with him. You’re not really getting into his plight, you’re more sort of watching it from the outside.’

Dahmer was sentenced to life in prison in 1999 but was killed by another prisoner two years later.

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is available to stream on Netflix.
