Konami themselves seems to have ruined the surprise for tonight’s Silent Hill Transmission, with up to three new games.

Considering how many Silent Hill rumours and leaks have circulated around the internet over the last couple of years, it’s perhaps fitting that the final leak comes from Konami themselves.

As a quick reminder, Konami is set to officially reveal new projects for its horror series in a streaming event happening later tonight, entitled Silent Hill Transmission.

While nothing as spoilery as a trailer or box art has leaked ahead of it, fans may already have an idea of what to expect. Thanks in part to, of all things, a monetisation message.

The YouTube channel SHN Survival Horror Network had intended on livestreaming the Silent Hill Transmission, something that is very common for these sorts of events.

They recently ran a test stream to ensure everything was working. However, they then received a copyright notice informing them that their test stream was now monetised by Konami, due to its use of copyrighted content.

That alone is bizarre considering nothing could be featured in the stream, since it hasn’t gone live, but the message even states the specific content that was apparently being shown. Namely, Silent Hill 2: Part 1.

So I did a test run for my stream tomorrow and Wait a Sec . Silent Hill 2 Part 1 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 wait what ? pic.twitter.com/JrQclGJ0wc

While this can’t be considered as confirmation that the remake is episodic, this not only seems to corroborate previous rumours of a Silent Hill 2 remake but suggests that it’s a multi-part project. Perhaps in a similar vein to Square Enix’s own Final Fantasy 7 remake project.

Splitting the game up into different parts doesn’t make any obvious sense though as, unlike Final Fantasy 7, the original wasn’t particularly long (about eight hours) and the game world wasn’t especially large.

In addition to the streaming reveal, the description for the Silent Hill Transmission on YouTube originally mentioned Silent Hill 2 explicitly, with a space left blank for an eventual link to the PlayStation Store. This in turn added to the claims that said remake will be a timed PlayStation exclusive.

The description’s already been updated to remove any mention of the game, but not before someone managed to screengrab it.

Some fans went even deeper and looked at the video’s metadata, finding potential references to a Steam release for Silent Hill 2 and the names of at least two other Silent Hill projects: Silent Hill Ascension and Return To Silent Hill. It’s obviously unclear whether these are brand new games or something else entirely.

There’s understandably a lot of fervent excitement for the return of Silent Hill. The series hasn’t had a proper game since 2012, with fans having to make do with cameos in Dead By Daylight and, err… skateboards.

There were early suspicions of Hideo Kojima being brought back for a Silent Hill project, sparking hopes that the cancelled Silent Hills would be revived, but the man himself denied such claims in 2020.

The Silent Hill Transmission is scheduled for tonight at 10pm BST.

Fingers crossed none of it has to do with NFTs (pic: Konami)
