Howard Stern has become the latest star to condemn Kanye West after the rapper made allegedly anti-semitic comments, going as far as to compare him to dictator Adolf Hitler.

West, 45, has sparked continuous outrage in recent weeks after wearing a White Lives Matter shirt alongside right-wing political pundit Candace Owens before branding Black Lives Matter as a ‘scam’.

The Gold Digger rapper was then locked out of Twitter and had his Instagram posts restricted after allegedly sharing anti-semitic sentiments on both platforms.

Despite backlash mounting, West originally doubled down on his comments and said he was ‘happy to have crossed a line’ as it sparked a conversation, but in a new interview with Piers Morgan, he has apologised for causing upset.

Radio shock jock Stern, who is Jewish, has now shared his thoughts on the ongoing controversy and said he doesn’t believe West’s mental health issues – the rapper is diagnosed with bipolar disorder – should be an excuse for his antics.

‘I almost don’t want to give any energy to this Kanye West character,’ the presenter said on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday.

‘I don’t know much about Kanye West. I’m not big into the rap scene, but he is … I’m really tired of people excusing his behaviour by saying, “Well, he’s just mentally ill”.’

The veteran radio DJ’s co-host Robin Quivers chimed in: ‘So was Hitler and someone elected him to run a country.’

Stern, 68, continued, ‘Boy, what this guy’s into, it’s the same old stuff with the Jews, you know … but anyway, Kanye was on the Chris Cuomo show, and good lord, you gotta hear the s*** this guy’s into, and f*** this mental illness, self-defence thing that he’s into, you know, like, “Oh yeah, he’s just mentally ill, don’t worry about it”.’

Quivers then argued: ‘If he was so mentally ill, they wouldn’t have [him] on TV – he’s not so mentally ill, you don’t let him say this stuff,’ to which Stern replied: ‘If he’s so mentally ill, why don’t they appoint a conservator over his money like they did with the poor Britney Spears?’

‘Kanye used to be fun crazy – now he’s like Hitler.’

Earlier this month, Twitter removed a tweet from West which they said ‘violated rules’ after he wrote: ‘I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.

‘The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.’

West appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Wednesday evening where he apologised for his words.

‘I will say, I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the DEFCON… the confusion that I caused,’ he said.

‘I feel like I caused hurt and confusion and I’m sorry for the families that had nothing to do with the trauma that I had been through. Hurt people hurt people – and I was hurt.’
