Kevin Spacey has been found not liable for damages after he was accused of sexual assault.

Anthony Rapp accused the House of Cards actor of assaulting him at a party in 1986, when he was 14 years old, claiming he was the victim of an ‘unwanted sexual advance’.

He filed legal action in September, 2020, and sought around $40million in damages.

Spacey, 63, fiercely denied all allegations against him, and stood trial in New York this month over the claims.

Earlier today, the jury were sent to deliberate and returned shortly after to deliver their verdict.

They concluded that it was not proven that he ‘touched a sexual or intimate part’ of Rapp.

NBC claims that Spacey lowered his head and appeared to wipe away tears upon hearing the verdict, before hugging his manager.

The publication claims Rapp’s lawyer, Richard Steigman, addressed reporters outside the Manhattan courtroom.

‘The jury spoke. Anthony told his truth. We respect the jury’s verdict, but it doesn’t change his truth,’ he is thought to have said.

In documents seen by PA, he claimed that Spacey picked him up and put him on a bed, before pushing his body weight against him.

He alleged that he then ‘wriggled out’ with no resistance.

The American Beauty lead has fiercely denied all accusations against him, and said that none of his interactions with the Star Trek: Discovery star had been ‘for the purpose of degrading or abusing him’.

‘I categorically deny plaintiff Anthony Rapp’s claim that I sexually assaulted him or otherwise made a ‘sexual advance’ on him,’ he previously said.

‘I met Mr Rapp several decades ago. I never had a sexual encounter with Mr Rapp. Nor did I harbor any sexual interest or desire in Mr Rapp at that time or any time.

‘Nor did I have physical contact with Mr Rapp or any other interaction with him that was for the purpose of sexual gratification of either me or him.

‘Any suggestion otherwise by Mr Rapp or anyone else is absolutely false.’
