Just when one dating series ends, another begins.
Married At First Sight UK came to an end on E4 this week, but Netflix has been quick to fill the reality-based romance void with season three of Love Is Blind.
Nick and Vanessa Lachey return to host the show which follows fifteen men and fifteen women hoping to find love.
For 10 days, the men and women date each other in purpose-built ‘pods’ where they can talk to each other through a speaker but not see each other to see if true love really is blind.
They will only get to meet face-to-face should a marriage proposal be accepted, with the engaged couples then setting off on a retreat before potentially tying the knot.
But for those that do decide to get married, are the ceremonies actually the real deal?
Here is everything you need to know…
Are the marriages on Love Is Blind real?
The short answer: yes – when the couples say ‘I do’ on the show, it is a reportedly legally binding ceremony.
It is always a moment of tension when engaged couples in the series step up to the alter, because there is still the chance one of them will say no.
The stakes are even higher though when you take into fact that the wedding is actually for real.

In March 2020, TMZ were able to locate marriage records for season one couples, Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton, and Matthew Barnett and Amber Pike.
Speaking with Refinery29, Lauren said, ‘This is a real legally binding marriage. This is not for TV. This is our life.’
Cameron added, ‘I framed [the marriage license] and put it up in my office.’
Season two winners Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson, and Jarrette Jones and Iyanna McNeeley, were also legally married — but both filed for divorce after just over a year.

Jarrette and Iyanna confirmed their split in a joint statement.
‘What’s going on, family. After much thought, we’re saddened to share that we have separated and will begin the process of divorcing,’ a message shared on both Iyanna and Jarrette’s Instagram pages read.
‘While we have love for each other, our lives are going in different directions and that’s okay.
‘Coming to this decision was far from easy and we will always wish each other the absolute best.

‘We hope you all will give us some space as we close this chapter of our lives.’
‘Thank you to our close friends and family for loving us both through our experience,’ they continued.
‘To the Love Is Blind family and Netflix, thank you for this unforgettable opportunity and support.’
Now only time will tell just how many of season three’s potential couples go all the way from the pod to the altar.
