Sheamus was decimated by The Bloodline on SmackDown and WWE has given an update on his condition after the attack.
The Celtic Warrior battled rising star Solo Sikoa in the opening match on Friday night, with The Usos and Sami Zayn at ringside proving too much for him to handle as he suffered a loss.
After the bell, Roman Reigns’ family – including the Honorary Uce – went on the attack, dealing out a vicious assault to Sheamus and totally laying him out.
Following the beat down, WWE has issued an update on air and said the former world champion has been taken to hospital.
Taking to social media later on, the team revealed the extent of the former world champion’s injury, which appears to be a storyline rather than something more serious.
The company posted: ‘BREAKING: Due to the attack earlier tonight by #TheBloodline, @WWESheamus has a non-displaced fracture near his elbow and is still under observation.’
Meanwhile, Sheamus’ Brawling Brutes allies Ridge Holland and Butch – who were taken out of the equation at the top of the show – vowed to get revenge for The Bloodline’s actions.
It’s unclear how long WWE will keep the Celtic Warrior out of action – if indeed it is just a storyline rather than an actual injury requiring him to be written off TV.
However, the idea of the Brutes targeting The Bloodline is a fascinating one as the two factions look set to butt heads, even if it’s more likely to include Jimmy and Jey Uso with their younger brother Solo rather than Roman Reigns himself, at least at first.
Elsewhere on SmackDown, Jey went against Sami Zayn’s orders and attacked Logan Paul, which is sure to anger Roman when the Tribal Chief returns next Friday.
To make matters worth, Logan even got a lucky punch in on the former tag team champ, knocking him out to stand tall at the end of the show.
WWE SmackDown airs Friday nights at 1am on BT Sport.
