Boy George has called on Kim Kardashian to publicly condemn her ex-husband Kanye West amid the anti-semitism controversy.

West, 45, has been heavily criticised after making strong statements about the Jewish community which prompted major social media sites to restrict his accounts.

In one tweet that was found to have violated rules, he said he was going ‘death con 3 [defcon 3] on Jewish people’.

His comments have threatened to impact his business deals with Adidas announcing their lucrative contract with West to distribute his Yeezy clothing line is under review, while fashion house Balenciaga have cut ties with the rapper.

Culture Club singer Boy George, 61, has shared his thoughts on the scandal and is particularly incensed that West’s ex-wife Kardashian, 42, has been radio silent at least publicly on the situation.

‘I’m kind of appalled that not more artists have come out and spoke against what he’s saying,’ George said in an Instagram video on Saturday.

‘I’m appalled that Kim Kardashian hasn’t come out and added her voice to this debate, because this woman has children with Kanye, so she must understand as a mother what it feels like for little Jewish children to hear these f***ing comments, how demoralising and terrifying it must be.’

Becoming tearful, the singer – real name George Alan O’Dowd – continued: ‘As a gay man I have experienced years of prejudice, you know, so the idea of doing that to someone else based on their race or their colour or their sexuality or their gender is just f***ing appalling to me, and it should be appalling to you.’

Earlier this week, the dad-of-four sat down with Piers Morgan for an explosive interview, in which he defended his recent behaviour before apologising for his anti-semitic comments.

The presenter was questioned on whether he regretted threatening to go ‘Defcon 3 on Jewish people’ in a post which saw him locked out of both Twitter and Instagram.

At first, West doubled down on his comments, declaring: ‘No, absolutely not’.

A short while later, however, he offered an apology, stating: ‘I will say, I’m sorry for the people that I hurt with the Defcon… the confusion that I caused.

‘I feel like I caused hurt and confusion and I’m sorry for the families that had nothing to do with the trauma that I had been through.

‘Hurt people hurt people – and I was hurt.’
