Love Island’s Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu is waving aside hate from trolls who don’t buy her relationship with boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti.
In an exclusive chat with Guilty Pleasures, the reality star shrugged off doubts around her and Davide’s romance following their win on ITV2’s dating show this summer.
‘Apparently I fake my relationship… It doesn’t bother me. I laugh at the negative comments,’ Ekin-Su, 28, explained, adding she and her man are still going strong: ‘We’re literally now looking for a flat. We’re close to confirming it. We’re moving in together pretty soon. We don’t need to prove to the world that we’re in love. We really don’t.’
That being said, the pair are well aware that fans are invested in their love story.
‘Of course, people love us, and I know people want us to stay together. But I said to Davide, “Look, if anything happened with us, if I find out you’ve done something to upset me, I’m gone. And vice-versa,”’ she recalled.
‘There’s no pressure to stay together. We are a real couple. We are authentic. Like any other couple, if someone was to do something that was out of line, you would leave, wouldn’t you? Out of your own self-respect.’
She continued: ‘Being in the public eye, sometimes, is not as easy as not being in the public eye. It’s the smallest things. If I didn’t like my boyfriend’s picture, for instance, people would assume things. Or, if Davide didn’t comment on one of my pictures, people would say something, “Oh my god, have they broken up?!”’
Ekin-Su, who’ll get her skates on for Dancing on Ice next year, recently launched Oasis’s Be Your Own Oasis drinks campaign.
The partnership – which saw her serve lunch, with a side-order of compliments, to customers from a food truck in Shoreditch last week – is about encouraging folks to love themselves just the way they are.

‘It is everything to do with being yourself. Being unapologetically you. Being strong and confident… it’s about stripping down the walls everyone has,’ she gushed.
So, what are Ekin-Su’s best and worst character traits? ‘I’m very empathetic. I’m good at understanding how people feel. Even if people feel negative towards, maybe me, I always put myself in their shoes,’ she replied, before revealing her not-so-great qualities.
‘Probably, my phone at the minute. I’m really crap at replying to people. My friends know that I’m not great at getting back [to them]. That’s because I’m really hectic. I’m working on it… I’ve turned off [the ‘read’ function], so people can’t tell that I have!’
