John Newman has become a first-time dad after welcoming a baby with wife Nana-Maria.

The Love Me Again singer announced that his household will now be a family of three with Nana-Maria giving birth to their first child.

Sharing the news in an Instagram post on Monday, John wrote: ‘A star is born xx.’

He included a black and white photo of the adorable newborn sleeping and wearing a knitted hat but has since deleted the photo.

However, the couple are keeping other details about their bundle of joy private, and are yet to reveal the name and gender.

John, 32, and Nana-Marie have been together for several years after meeting on a flight from Copenhagen to Bornholm, Denmark, and their engagement first revealed in 2017.

The year prior, the Out Of My Head singer revealed that a tumour which had been removed in 2012, had returned. He was later given the all-clear and now has monthly check-ups.

John previously praised Nana-Maria for supporting him throughout his health ordeal, saying: ‘I honestly couldn’t give a f*** about fame or celebrity.

‘She’s just brilliant and I really enjoy spending time with her.’

The musician recently explained that he had ‘lost all vision’ of what success was prior to lockdown.

‘When you’re touring, no matter if a single’s not doing that well or there’s c**pgoing on at home or you don’t like yourself as a person, it’s not something you actually know,’ he said.

‘When that opportunity to run and hide was taken away from me, [in lockdown,] I realised that I was actually miserable and so not happy with how my career was going.

‘I realised that I was just running at a thousand miles an hour to try and cover that up. Taking the free champagne and getting pictures on the red carpet and thinking that was success when really I’d lost all vision of what success was, which is the pure love and emotion of something that you’ve created doing well.’
