WWE legend Kevin Nash has opened up about his son’s devastating death, at the age of 26.

News broke last week that Tristen Nash had died, with a representative of the family confirming their loss in a statement.

The athlete released a new episode of the Kliq This: Kevin Nash podcast earlier today, in which he candidly discussed the tragedy with co-host Sean Oliver.

‘This Wednesday morning, my son passed,’ he began, before explaining that Tristen – who he shares with wife Tamara Nash – had been hospitalized after a seizure.

‘The seizure caused a cardiac arrest. He was basically dead in his room, on the floor, with the EMT around him. They got him back and got him in the ambulance. They tried to save his life.

‘To the people at Halifax hospital – doctors, nurses, I thank you.’

Kevin revealed that they had both decided to stop drinking recently, and had gone ‘cold turkey’, but neither ‘felt great’ from the impact of this.

‘Alcoholism is such a nasty drug. And it’s a drug,’ he said. ‘Anybody out there, if you do drink and you’re having problems and you know it’s affecting your life, you know it’s affecting your health, you can’t see the damage it’s doing.

‘Nobody goes to the doctor, nobody gets checked out, nobody gets blood work. That silent killer, alcohol, is eating your organs, weakening your heart, weakening your constitution.

‘I have spent half my life glamorizing the rock and roll, hard charging, hard drinking, drug partying wrestling world that I grew up in and lived in.

The only reason this podcast exists is because of Tristen Nash.

‘I really need to take a step back from that and go, “You’re part of the problem, Nash. You’ve glamorized a lifestyle that kills people. And you’ve got to stop doing that.”’

Tristen’s cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Kevin became emotional as he recalled seeing his only child take his last breath but felt ‘at peace’ in the moment.

‘My wife and I were standing over our son and he took his last heartbeat, we were just… He was beautiful. He looked so gorgeous,’ he continued before wiping tears.

‘When my wife and I were standing over him, and he had taken his last breath…

‘We were holding hands and we looked at each other. I looked over at her and said, “What are you thinking?” She said, “I’m at peace”. I said, “Me too.”’

Kevin also thanked fans and friends for the support they have offered his family in the days following their loss.

Many flooded the comments below the YouTube video of the podcast with messages of condolences, praising him for being so strong at such a tough time.

‘Can’t imagine the pain you’re going through. Sending strength and love. We’re all here for you Big Man,’ a follower said.

‘Can’t even begin to describe how sad and sorry I am for you’re loss. If you see this, my prayers to you and you’re family [sic],’ another replied.

A viewer said: ‘The strength you have to do this podcast after the worst day of your life is incredible. Only love to you and your family and RIP Tristen.’

One commented: ‘The fact that Kev is doing this is absolutely unfathomable. The strength he has.’

‘Don’t owe the fans anything Big Kev. But just know that the fans love you and want you to take time to process this,’ a YouTube user added. ‘As a father, I cannot imagine what you are going through. God bless your family during this time.’

A representative for Kevin revealed the tragic news of Tristen’s death last Thursday, in a statement to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp.

‘On behalf of Kevin and Tamara Nash, I have to unfortunately report that their son Tristen Nash has tragically passed away at the age of 26,’ they said.

‘Tristen recently started working on Kevin’s new podcast and the two enjoyed their time together. The Nash family asks if you could please respect their privacy during this time.’
