Warning: spoilers ahead for Andor episode 8.
Eight episodes into Star Wars series Andor, and the tension is continuing to rise at a stratospheric pace.
Having been sent to prison while going by the alias Keef Girgo, Cassian (Diego Luna) makes the acquaintance of a brand new character, played by former Star Wars actor and Lord of the Rings legend Andy Serkis.
Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) is still doing her best to raise money as she covertly helps the Rebellion’s fight against the Empire, while Forest Whittaker finally makes his return as Rebel extremist Saw Gerrera, who he first played in the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Imperial forces are tightening their grip on the people of Ferrix, as Bix (Adria Arjona) faces possible torture in Cassian’s absence.
Meanwhile, Vel (Faye Marsay) and Cinta (Varada Sethu) are keeping an eye out for Cassian, who – of course – is nowhere to be seen in his home town at present.

At the end of episode eight, it was revealed that Cassian had been sentenced to six years in prison… though as we know, considering Rogue One is set five years in the future, he won’t be serving his full sentence.
Nonetheless, Cassian finds himself in a terrible situation, being forced to work as a labourer and made to go barefoot while threatened with the floor being made deadly hot at the will of the authorities.
When he first enters the work room, he’s introduced to Kino Loy, played by none other than Lord of the Rings star Andy, who previously starred in the Star Wars franchise as sequel trilogy villain Snoke.
In Andor, Kino is the unit manager in charge of the 49 men in the room, as he aggressively tells Cassian: ‘You’re mine now,’ before adding: ‘Losing hope, or mind – keep it to yourself.’
Viewers have gone wild over Andy’s return to the franchise, with one tweeting: ‘Who would have thought Andy Serkis would return to the galaxy!!!!!????’
‘Hands down biggest geek out moment in all Star Wars,’ another said in response to the exciting moment, following rumours of Andy being cast in the series.
Syril Karn desperately stays on Cassian’s tail

Despite being fired from his job for his failed attempt at trying to catch Cassian on Ferrix, Syril Karn (Kyle Soller) isn’t giving up on his mission to find the elusive criminal.
Dedra Meero (Denise Gough), a supervisor for the Imperial Security Bureau, questions Syril about the incident on Ferrix, after it’s revealed he’s been submitting false requests to the Bureau of Standards Data Center looking for Cassian.
‘Cassian Andor is a murderer and a threat to the Empire. I have been trying, with the limited tools available, to find him,’ Syril explains to Dedra, before pointing out information missing from the report about Cassian’s escape from Ferrix with Luthen (Stellan Skarsgård).
Just before his interrogation with Dedra ends, Syril tells her: ‘I was a good deputy inspector. I was very good. I solved a double murder and found a killer in two days. I was overly ambitious, yes, but time was slipping away and the opportunity was real.’
‘Service to the Empire, you just said it. Can one ever be too aggressive in preserving order?’ he adds, stressing that he could be a ‘valuable asset going forward’.
We have a feeling Syril and Dedra may continue working closely together in future, with several fans pointing out the palpable chemistry between the Empire devotees.
Vel and Cinta forced to separate while keeping an eye on Ferrix
Following their successful mission on Aldhani with Cassian, Vel and Cinta aren’t in the clear yet, as they’re forced to keep their heads down in order to avoid suspicion from the Imperial authorities.
On Ferrix, Bix and Brasso (Joplin Sibtain) are helping to keep an eye on Maarva in Cassian’s absence, while her health is faltering.
While Bix and Brasso are discussing Maarva’s ‘obsession’ with Troopers and the Rebellion, Vel and Cinta are close by, covertly watching the pair chat.
Cinta tells Vel that she intends on staying on Ferrix while they keep an eye out for Cassian, after Vel was ordered to take him out to tie up loose ends from the heist.
Vel is reluctant to separate from Cinta, while Cinta tells her: ‘I’m a mirror, Vel. You love me because I show you what you need to see.’
Fans were devastated to see the couple go their separate ways once again, with one writing: ‘Pls stop separating velcinta I need a couple with a happy ending I can’t take this anymore.’
‘I’m gonna get emotional and I wish more people would talk about it but vel and cinta is what a lot of Star Wars fans have been waiting for, myself included. Like these are actual characters that love one another not just lesbian a and lesbian b that are cut out,’ another said.
Forest Whittaker’s Saw Gerrera finally arrives to catch up with Luthen
The Clone Wars veteran is back (Picture: Lucasfilm/Disney Plus)
Having made his debut as Clone Wars veteran Saw Gerrera in the 2016 film Rogue One – where his character met his demise – Forest Whittaker is finally back in the Star Wars franchise.
Luthen pays him a visit, feigning ignorance over the heist at the garrison on Aldhani, which Saw describes as a ‘masterpiece’.
Luthen tells Saw that he wants him to meet a man called Anto Kreegr, but Saw is resistant, describing Anto as ‘slow’ and ‘stupid’.
‘Oppression breeds rebellion,’ Luthen stresses, trying to convince Saw to do what he wishes. But of course, Saw has a mind of his own and won’t do another’s bidding so willingly.
Could Bix be facing torture?

Over on Ferrix, the Imperial forces are tightening their grip on anyone who poses a threat.
Bix is spotted and taken into the custody of the authorities, as she’s made to witness the aftermath of her friend Paak (Abhin Galeya) being tortured by the soldiers under Dedra’s thumb.
She’s forced onto the seat that Paak was just sitting on, as it’s implied that Bix could be facing torture next.
Will she hold her nerve, as the Empire continues to search for Cassian’s whereabouts?
Andor is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
