Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh has promised that sex scenes are back in business in season 3, after fans noticed the heat was turned down in season 2.
There were definitely some steamy moments in season two of the show, which followed Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), but compared to season one scenes between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Hastings (Rege-Jean Page), it was positively tame.
Season three will focus on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), and Adjoa Andoh, who plays the iconic Lady Danbury, has declared there’s plenty more ‘How’s Your Father?’ on the way.
‘It’s season three so there will be lots of things you’re familiar with,’ she told Metro.co.uk at the Pride of Britain Awards.
‘There will be the next Bridgerton child, in this case Colin, and we’ll find out what his romantic outworkings are, there’ll be a bit of How’s Your Father, no doubt, there’ll be some lovely frocks, there’ll be some lovely locations.
‘I will have some trouble that comes at me in surprising ways, and it’ll be more of the same, but with surprises. It’s got extra glam to it this season, I would say.’

Teasing some of the main differences, Adjoa went on: ‘Some of the structures that we’ve got for the storytelling we’ve got this season are slightly different and slightly new and that’s refreshing.’
Considering the new focus on Penelope, could that mean Lady Whistledown’s hanging up her hat?

The series creator Chris Van Dusen previously defended the inclusion of fewer sex scenes in season two, saying: ‘We’ve never done a sex scene for the sake of doing a sex scene and I don’t think we ever will.
‘It all serves a larger purpose and it’s a different story this season.
‘Different characters, where we’re with Anthony and Kate most of the season and that’s very different from Daphne and Simon.’
Simone also defended the minimal use of intimate scenes.
She said: ‘They aren’t performative sex scenes or intimate scenes, they have a meaning behind them and I think they’re very earnt when the fireworks happen.’
Earlier this week, Adjoa glammed up for the The Pride of Britain Awards, which celebrate the nation’s unsung heroes, attending alongside Michael Sheen, Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Dame Kelly Holmes, Sir Mo Farah and the Lionesses.
The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards will air on ITV on October 27 at 8pm. Bridgerton can be streamed in full on Netflix now.
