Carol McGiffin has revealed just how much she dislikes Halloween, admitting she believes the spooky celebration should be banned altogether.
Next week, spine-chilling festivities will be taking place across the world on October 31, with children set to take to the streets in their droves to take part in some ritual trick-or-treating.
However, there are some people who aren’t a fan of the skeleton-filled spectacle, expressing particular disapproval over the adults who get just as excited for the annual event as younger generations.
On Wednesday’s Loose Women, the panel – made up of Jane Moore, Brenda Edwards, Gloria Hunniford and Carol – began their discussion about Halloween by bringing up the widely-condemned Jeffrey Dahmer-inspired costumes that have been found on the internet.
After Brenda shared how ‘insensitive’ she found the Dahmer costumes, many of which have been banned on sites such as eBay, Carol explained why she wasn’t a fan of Halloween ‘at all’.
Dubbing the celebration a ‘massive American import’, Carol admitted that she didn’t remember marking the occasion when she was young, as Guy Fawkes was the focus of the autumnal season.

‘For me now, seeing grown-ups dressing up in such a competitive way, I think it should be banned,’ she revealed.
Carol added that she believes adults who go all-out for Halloween don’t do it for their children, but do it instead to ‘beat their neighbours’.
‘I do not want to dress up as a grown-up and walk around the streets. I think Halloween trick-or-treating is teaching kids to extort things from people,’ she also quipped.
As the conversation went back to the Dahmer costumes, Carol agreed with Brenda that the costumes shouldn’t be worn, nor should they be made available to buy in the first place
However, she then added that she believes ‘anything can be offensive’ nowadays when it comes to costumes, including simple ghost looks.
Several Loose Women viewers agreed with the panel that the Dahmer costumes going around the internet have been deplorable, with one tweeting: ‘It’s wrong to glorify someone like Dahmer. Why would anyone want to dress up as someone so disgusting for Halloween?’
Another pointed out that Halloween doesn’t just have history in America, stating: ‘Well Halloween (hop tu naa) is a Celtic tradition that’s hundreds of years old that’s been celebrated in Britain. It’s not all about America.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
