Nadine Dorries had a rather unfortunate start hosting Tuesday night’s Piers Morgan Uncensored and repeatedly tripped up as she read from the autocue.

The former culture secretary, who was standing in for Morgan on his TalkTV show while he was on holiday, bumbled her way through the introduction with former editor of the Evening Standard Emily Sheffield by her side.

Teasing what was in store across the episode, Dorries began: ‘For a change, a man who is going to clear up a woman’s mess. That’s Rishi’s vow as he enters number 10.’

But her outline completely fell apart as she attempted the second part of the teaser, which pretty much sounded like gobbledegook.

‘As you were, Sunak’s stability extends to the cabinet with a big besting in all cages but [Suella] Braverman back in the Home Office.’

Acknowledging her mistakes, Dorries apologised and blurted out: ‘Sorry, I’ve just completely messed up.’

Picking herself up for the final part, she then slowed right down to say: ‘They’re in our studio and we’ve frisked them for a clue. Stick around for Just Stop Oil, live.’

Viewers were completely stunned by her series of blunders with many seizing the moment to take shots at her political success (or lack thereof).

LBC’s James O’Brien joked: ‘Oh boy. I think Nadine Dorries might actually be better at TV presenting than she is at politics.’

‘Is there no beginning to her talents?’ another asked.

‘THIS WOMAN HAD THE AUDACITY TO TRY AND PRIVATISE AN ENTIRE TV STATION AND SHE CAN’T EVEN SPEAK ON A TV SHOW,’ screamed a third.

Luckily for TalkTV, Dorries’s stint on the show is now over as she was only filling in on Monday and Tuesday night.

Before making her debut, she announced: ‘I try to avoid TV these days and I’m not one of the MPs you find running across to the cameras on the green or in and out of TV studios but I’m excited about TalkTV and the opportunity to do this during what could turn out to be one of the most eventful weeks we have ever known in British politics.’

Piers Morgan Uncensored airs weekdays at 8pm on TalkTV.
