I compared Kim Kardashian’s Skims shapewear to Spanx – I had a favorite, it’s more cinching and supportive
A YOUTUBER in her 40s compared the Skims and Spanx bodysuit and found a noticeable difference between the two.
Annie Parker, a beauty and fashion content creator, uploaded the video to share with her 5.75k followers on YouTube.

She ordered a haul from Skims and Spanx and clarified that she had not tried on the items before.
“First, I wanted to review for you one of the hottest-selling and best-selling Skims products…this is really really tiny,” she laughed, holding up the Skims Mid-Thigh Sculpting Bodysuit ($68).
“This has an open gusset, which is really nice,” she said.
“Another thing I really like is the little spot for your butt, so probably gives you butt-shaping,” she added.

I’m plus-size & tried Kim Kardashian’s Skims – the undies were not big enough
From Spanx, she purchased their Oncore Mid-Thigh Bodysuit ($98).
“Also has a butt thing in the back and also has an open gusset,” she said.
First, she tried on the Skims.
“It fits nice in the bust, it does hold you in,” she said on her first impression.

“I can’t turn around because you’re going to be able to see my butt.
“Here’s the thing that I’m actually surprised about: I don’t feel stuffed into it, and it doesn’t feel overly constricting,” she added.
“Honestly I kind of always thought shapewear has to be the most uncomfortable thing that you will ever wear — this is not.
“This is actually really comfortable, very breathable.”

She threw on a white dress over the bodysuit to see the effect of the shapewear.
“No lumps and bumps or panty lines, you can see in the back that it’s nice and smooth and it feels good,” she said.
“On a scale of one to ten, I have to give this one… I’d say a nine or a nine and a half.”
Next, she tried on the Spanx version.
She noted that the Spanx was a little see-through as she covered her chest with her hands.

“The Spanx version was actually a lot easier to get on,” she said.
“What I liked about it differently than Skims is that the part around the thigh isn’t as tight, so it’s not giving you lumps around the leg.
“It also has the open gusset, it feels a little nicer than the Skims, I think it feels a little bit silkier and smoother,” she added.
“It also lifts your bust really nice, you can see that it does hold you in nicely.”

She noted Spanx’s other pros, including a lack of back fat, and a lifted butt effect.
She threw the same white dress back on to compare the difference.
“Between the two, I actually like the Skims better because I liked that it gave me more of that hourglass look, and I did feel that it was a bit more comfortable,” she concluded.
Next, she tried on the Spanx Low-Plunge Neckline Mid-Thigh Bodysuit ($148).

She noted that Spanx in general seemed to be strange for her body shape.
“I feel that this is better around the thigh and butt area and it’s not as form-fitting around the waist but it does have a nice fit and is very comfortable,” she said.
She also noted the padded bra, and how the sizing seemed a bit small for her body.
She threw on a tight black dress with a plunging neckline.

“It actually works perfectly with this kind of a plunging neckline — side note, I probably wouldn’t wear this with this dress because it’s making my boobs look way too big,” she said.
She noted that the Spanx was a ‘great option’ for smaller busts.
She rated the low-plunge bodysuit an eight.
Next, she tried on the Skims Barely There Bodysuit ($62).

Her initial dislikes about the garment were the ‘granny-panty’ back, and the more risque design.
“If you’re smaller busted this might work for you, it does hold you in, it is very slimming and smoothing,” she said.
However, due to her larger bust, she noted that she feels uncomfortable wearing the bodysuit because of how revealing it is unless she were wearing it with a fitted dress.
Finally, she showed a core panty brief from Skims that she really enjoys.

“What I liked about it is that one, it has the buttcheck thing so you don’t get uni-butt,” she said.
“The other thing I like is around the waist, it’s almost rubberized so that it stays up and doesn’t slide up and down.
“Overall, comparing Skims and Spanx together…I have to say that I like the Skims better.
“I feel that the Skims is much more effective, I felt that it gave you more of that hourglass look and gave you better support,” she concluded.
