The cast of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! 2022 could be facing a swarm of creepy crawlies than ever before, according to reports.

Fans are gearing up to see a fresh batch of celebs taking on gruesome trials Down Under, after the Covid pandemic forced filming to take place in Wales.

Stars including Boy George, Olivia Attwood and Charlene White have been spotted in Brisbane airport, although an official announcement hasn’t been revealed yet.

Previous celebrities who have been on the hit show have encountered their fair share of bugs, however, new reports suggest that this year’s stars could see an explosion’ of cockroaches and an increase in rats and spiders.

Delightful!

Professor Dieter Hochuli, who leads the Integrative Ecology Group at the University of Sydney, told The Mirror: ‘The big one that is causing lots of concerns for this upcoming summer is mosquitoes.

‘Their biology is driven by available water and higher temperatures means they will be able to reproduce quickly once the weather heats up.’

ITV Studios uses a ‘specialist licensed animal company’ throughout the programme’s run.

‘The company has extensive and detailed experience of all animals that are featured and working with animals in film and television,’ its procedural document reads.

The broadcaster also asserts that the animals used are commercially bred in the UK and would ‘normally be purchased by zoos and pet stores to feed birds and exotic animals’

During the Bushtucker trial, live animals are taken to the site in special enclosures.

This comes after production was halted due to severe flooding near the jungle last Monday.

An ITV spokesperson said: ‘We closed [the] site for 24 hours as a precautionary measure due to the inclement weather.’

As anticipation builds for series 22, long-serving presenters Ant and Dec recently teased their thoughts about the cast.

In a video clip published on Twitter, the Geordie duo displayed a wide range of emotions from excitement to shock after seeing the official list.
