Luckily one content creator has shared his cheap and easy hack for avoiding blisters in new shoes.

Iwan Steffan, known online as @iwansteffan, often shares lifestyle content with his 87,000 followers. 

In one of his latest videos, he suggests his followers use sanitary towels to help break in new Dr Martens boots – and it’ll cost them less than £2. 

“I think that I’ve found the ultimate life hack to break in Doc Martens. 

“Now I have a troublesome relationship with these shoes. I love them, but they have damaged my feet so, so badly.

“I’ve tried using every single method to break them in – freezer, hairdryer, everything. 

“My friend suggested sanitary towels, so I was like, ‘what the hell?’ and I literally tried them.

“But you literally put it on the back of your foot or put them in your shoe, stick them inside the shoe and it works.

During the 35-second video, the content creator can be seen showing off his Dr Martens collection.

Iwan shows the pack of Always Ultra Sanitary Towels Day & Night he’s been using to cushion his feet. 

These are available from various retailers, including Boots, and prices start at just £1.50. 

He places one around the back of his foot, and another inside the shoe, covering the heel, which he claims have helped him avoid blisters. 

Fans loved the hack, with the video gaining more than 8,700 likes and 254,000 views. 

In the comments, Iwan’s followers thanked him for the idea, with one writing: “Omg I got a pair last March, tried EVERYTHING so they are sat in the box! Defo trying this!!!!”

 Others shared their own hacks to avoid blisters, with one writing: “When you first get them, get in a hot bath with them on, socks as well, they will mould to your feet as the leather will go soft. Thank me later.”

Someone else commented: “I used to fill mine with large raw potatoes overnight..stretched them lovely.”
