The Witcher fans are seriously considering skipping season four of the series after Liam Hemsworth was announced as Henry Cavil’s replacement.
On Saturday, the fandom was rocked after it was confirmed that the Australian actor, 32, will be playing Geralt of Rivia after the Superman frontman said that he will be ‘laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.’
Sharing the news on social media, Henry wrote: In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
Releasing his own statement, the Hunger Games actor shared that he is a longtime fan of The Witcher, and is ‘over the moon’ to have bagged the coveted role.
‘Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.’
The casting reveal ignited a divide in opinion with several swearing off the programme, and many weren’t shy in voicing their opinions on social media.
‘Having read reports now, If Netflix does not bring back Henry Cavill to the #Witcher and get rid of their disrespectful writers then that’s the end of my subscription,’ one fan seethed.
‘I’m tired of shows going sour this way ,did they learn nothing from GoT? Stick to and respect source material.’
‘Can we boycott the witcher until they make amends with henry cavill?’ another added.

While viewers don’t know the reason why Henry won’t be starring in the fourth chapter, many are assuming that it has something to do with scheduling after he recently announced his return to the DC Extended Universe, after fans spotted a familiar face in the Black Adam post credits.
In an Instagram post, Henry wrote: ‘A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.’
