Owen Warner is excited to get going on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, even with some of the big challenges he’ll face in camp.

The lineup has been revealed for the upcoming series with the Hollyoaks actor – who plays Romeo Nightingale in the Channel 4 soap – swapping the village for the jungle.

He’ll be competing with the likes of pop icon Boy George and reality star Olivia Attwood in a bid to become King of the Jungle, but he admitted missing his two haircuts every week could actually be his toughest task.

He said: ‘I have to get haircuts twice a week for work and I think not having them will be the biggest trial! I might come out looking like a different geezer!’

Food could also be an issue for the 23-year-old actor, as he’s a self-confessed snacker at home, which could prove to be a bit of an obstacle as he gets use to the more limited diet in camp.

‘Any food I am given like the things in the eating trial I am going to make the most of I don’t let myself go hungry at home. I will always have a snack,’ he revealed.

‘But I am not going to have the resources around me so I don’t know how “hangry” I am going to get. My cooking skills are definitely not my best attribute but I do like entertaining. I like making up games on set.’

While the huge football fan is gutted to be missing the start of the 2022 World Cup, which kicks off in Qatar on November 20, he’s hoping he might be able to find love in Australia.

This year’s cast will feature Mike Tindall, Owen Warner, Olivia Attwood, Charlene White, Boy George, Chantelle Douglas, Sue Cleaver, Chris Moyles, Babatunde Aléshé and Jill Scott (Picture: ITV)

‘I don’t have a partner, I am always looking for love,’ he added, noting I’m A Celebrity will also be an opportunity to show viewers a new side to him – particularly those who only know him for Hollyoaks.

‘I am excited for people to get to know me as a person and not a character. People are so used to seeing me recite lines that have been written for me, and most of them are not what I would say myself,’ he said.

Owen will be joined in camp by the likes of broadcaster Chris Moyles, Lioness footballer Jill Scott and Coronation Street favourite Sue Cleaver, and while it’s too soon to be thinking about winning, he’s simply keen to not go out too soon.

‘It’s not sunk in yet and it feels surreal. And now it is getting closer, I want to enjoy
everything about it. I have told all my friends to vote for me because I will feel like I have wasted it if I don’t do the trials,’ he said.

‘The trials are part of the I’m A Celebrity experience. It’s great to be going to Australia, the OG format.’

I’m A Celebrity 2022 premieres on Sunday November 6 at 9pm on ITV.
