WWE superstar and horror super fan Liv Morgan has insisted Bloody Mary is one of the genre’s most misunderstood villains.
The former SmackDown Women’s Champion – who recently had a guest role in Chucky and suffered a gruesome death at the hands of the sinister doll – is living her best life this Halloween season, and she certainly knows her stuff.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Liv was left stumped after being asked which horror character she’d most like to embody in real life, given the chance.
‘Am I the bad guy or am I just any character? OK… any bad guy in any horror film? Oof, what a question,’ she laughed.’I’m trying to relate to someone right now and I’m like, no, no. Maybe Bloody Mary?’
Liv clearly sympathises with the folklore around Bloody Mary, who is said to appear in a mirror when her name is chanted three times, with the character most recently played by Dominique Jackson in an episode of American Horror Stories.
‘She doesn’t do anything and we just call upon her and chant her to come back, knowing that it’s not good news but we do it anyway, we wanna disturb her peace,’ Liv said.
The 28-year-old star insisted the spirit isn’t ‘choosing’ to be so violent when she gets called upon, and Liv wouldn’t mind spending a day presumably setting the record straight.
‘It’s like, right, let her chill in the mirror dimension – but no! We summon her, and then she kills us,’ she added. ‘But like, she’s not choosing to do that. I’ll be Bloody Mary.’
As well as her recent cameo in Chucky – which Liv described to us as ‘a literal dream come true’ before the announcement was made – she is also starring alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman in The Kill Room.
Looking to the future, the wrestler has made it clear she’d love to appear in a Marvel movie, while Margot Robbie has already taken two of her ideal roles.
‘There’s so many roles I would love to play right now that are already being done that – I missed my generation. I would love to play Harley Quinn, I’d love to play Barbie,’ she laughed.
‘Those two ships have sailed! Maybe when I’m 50 I’ll still look incredible and I’ll finally be able to reprise my dream roles.’
WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
