Great British Bake Off star Maxy became the eighth baker eliminated from the competition after what proved to be a pretty disastrous week in the tent.

The quarter final week in the tent was pastry week, with the bakers tasked with making vol-au-vents, spring rolls, and pies.

While the bakers tried their best, and some saw success, including Syabira, who was named star baker, Prue admitted it was a ‘really disappointing’ week.

However, while it came close, Maxy was ultimately eliminated from the competition after a close call between her and Sandro.

She had predicted the result, saying afterwards: ‘It’s really sad to go but I’m happy and I’m proud i made it this far.’

It means Syabira, Sandro, Abdul, and Janusz have made it into the semi-final.

It was an eventful week in the Bake Off tent, after we saw what’s potentially the show’s first ever unsolved mystery when one of Janusz’s spring rolls mysteriously went missing during the technical challenge.

As judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood came to Janusz’s spring rolls, Paul declared that it was a good attempt – but it was a shame there were only seven.

Along with the rest of the nation, Janusz was immediately horrified and indignant, whispering that he had indeed produced eight spring rolls.

He ultimately placed in second, behind winner Sandro, with Paul asking the baker the question the entire country was no doubt screaming at their screens: ‘Where’s the eighth?’

Still puzzled, Janusz answered: ‘I deep fried eight, and seven ended up on the plate’.

Meanwhile, Paul and Prue were left pretty unimpressed with the bakers this week, after all of them struggled to some extent with the challenges.

Prue even declared it was a ‘really disappointing’ week, with fans feeling for the bakers.

Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
