There’s no prizes for guessing what this week’s new number one is, as Call Of Duty and Bayonetta both outdo their predecessors.
Although there’s been no official comment from Activision, everything suggests that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been a massive hit, with reports that it’s the biggest PlayStation launch ever for the series and that physical sales are up 42% on last year in the UK.
Usually physical sales go down even if a game has done better, as more people move to digital downloads every year, so to see that kind of increase is hugely impressive. Even so, it’s still only the third biggest physical launch of the year, behind FIFA 23 and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
It never had a chance of beating Call Of Duty, but Bayonetta 3 has also done well, with a slight increase on the 2018 Switch version of Bayonetta 2 – which almost certainly translates into a significant increase in overall sales.
