Shakira helps dad, 91, with physiotherapy in heartwarming video after he’s admitted to hospital-Rebecca Sayce-Entertainment – Metro

Shakira has shared an emotional video of her helping her father William Mebarak Chadid with physiotherapy in hospital.

The 91-year-old was admitted to the Teknon-Quiron clinic in Barcelona last week, the Colombian singer, 45, confirmed.

In a video posted by the star, the Waka Waka hitmaker can be seen helping her father to strengthen his legs using physiotherapy techniques under the supervision of a doctor.

‘And life is something that happens between hospital visits, and Halloween costumes,’ she captioned the clip.

A statement from the family says: ‘Shakira’s communication team confirms that the singer’s father, William, is hospitalized at the Teknon-Quiron clinic in Barcelona. 

‘Details about his health condition are confidential, so the family asks for respect at this time while waiting to see his evaluation.’

The star’s mother, Nidia Ripoll, told Hola! that William is currently ‘stable’ but she is unsure when he will be discharged from hospital.

The singer’s ex Gerard Pique, 35, has also been to visit his former father-in-law during his hospital stay, saying they are ‘still family’.

This isn’t the first time William has been admitted to hospital this year, with him suffering a fall in May, and undergoing several surgeries.

Shakira also shared in June that her father had been taken to hospital once more after suffering ‘a bad fall’.

‘Guys, I’m getting a lot of messages of concern that I was seen in an ambulance in Barcelona recently,’ she tweeted.

‘I just wanted to let you know that those photos are from last weekend (the 28th), when my dad, unfortunately, had a bad fall and I accompanied him in an ambulance to the hospital where he is recovering now.

‘Please do send all your best wishes his way and thank you all as always for all of your love & support.’
