Police investigating the death of Davido’s son have reportedly questioned a nanny as their inquiries continue.

It was reported that the Nigerian singer’s three-year-old son Ifeanyi Adeleke died at home in Lagos, Nigeria on Monday after drowning in a pool.

Further details are currently unknown but Lagos Police did confirm they had initially detained eight domestic staff members for questioning.

Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the department, has now said that six employees have been released but two – a childminder and one other person – are still being held for questioning.

‘Eight members of his domestic staff were taken in for questioning, but a nanny and one other person are still being questioned,’ the representative said according to CNN.

‘After our interrogation, six people were allowed to go because they don’t have any direct bearing with the incident.’

Hundeyin added: ‘It appears to be drowning but we need to conduct our investigation to ascertain that.’

Investigating officers are yet to review CCTV footage with Hundeyin stating: ‘For now, we haven’t done that. The investigation is systematic – step by step.’

He added that the police have ‘been in touch with [Ifeanyi’s] parents from day one’.

Davido, 29, and his fiancée Chioma Rowland, a popular chef and influencer, have not commented on their son’s death.

The Afrobeats star’s celebrity friends have been posting tributes in light of the horrific news, with former Nigerian governor Peter Obi tweeting: ‘I send my sincere condolences to Davido and Chioma, over the death of their son Ifeanyi. I cannot begin to imagine the pains they are going through at the moment.
