This Morning’s Phillip Schofield was completely confused over Matt Hancock’s decision to join I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, predicting the politician will be ‘tortured’ by the public.
The disgraced former health secretary, who resigned from his cabinet position after breaking his own social distancing laws while in a tryst with a married aide, was announced as a late-comer to the jungle on Tuesday.
The shock news sparked an almighty backlash, resulting in the camp mate’s suspension from the Conservative Party for signing up to the show taking place while Parliament is sitting.
Defending jetting off to Oz and joining the line-up which also includes Boy George and Love Island’s Olivia Attwood, Hancock claimed to The Sun that he ‘hadn’t lost his marbles.’
The latest figure to weigh in on the debate is Phillip who discussed ITV’s juggernaut programme on Wednesday’s This Morning with host Holly Willoughby.
The pair had previously giggled about the prospect of Hancock heading to the jungle live on the daytime talk show, with Phillip remarking it was one ‘hell of a booking.’
Revisiting the subject, Phillip said about Hancock: ‘He’s going to be tortured by the public, they’re going to vote him in for every single trial.

‘MPs don’t do well in the judging; I think Nadine Dorries might have been first out. So you sort of predict that he’s going to do every single trial and then get sent home.’
Discussing whether Hancock entering the jungle was ‘high risk’, Holly remarked: ‘Is it high risk? The thing is, can it get much worse?

‘The opinion of him hasn’t been great of late so maybe this isn’t a risk, maybe this is a chance for him to possibly turn it around… or people begin to feel sorry for him.
‘If you look at the narrative that’s being said about him, it is brutal.’

Bookies are already predicting Hancock will break records as the most nominated contestant to take on the gruesome Bushtucker trials, as people seek to get revenge for his incompetence during the pandemic.
