Aaron Paul has filed a petition to legally change his surname, as well as his baby son’s moniker, it has been claimed.

The Breaking Bad star is known professionally by Aaron Paul but his surname is actually Sturtevant – he chose to drop this and adopt his middle name publicly.

However, the 43-year-old and his wife Lauren have reportedly submitted paperwork to make the change official.

As well as requesting to switch their seven-month-old son’s name from Casper Emerson Paul to Ryden Caspian Paul.

According to TMZ, the couple – who are also parents to daughter Story – went into detail for the reason behind the changes.

They reportedly explained that they want to conform to the actor’s professional identity and keep their family name consistent, as their son was registered as Paul.

In the paperwork, per the outlet, they were required to give a name at the hospital after his arrival earlier this year.

However, they later changed their minds when they found another option that they preferred – and have been referring to the little one with their new moniker publicly ever since.

Just weeks after Ryden’s arrival was confirmed, Aaron was sharing his new name with the world on social media and during TV appearances.

‘A new baby boy. Yeah, his name is Ryden, and I love him,’ he told Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show.

Sharing the first photos of the newborn on Instagram in April, he penned: ‘My little man. Ryden Caspian Paul. So happy you are out in this world you beautiful boy you. I promise to make you proud little guy.

‘We have been absorbing this baby boy for the last month and feel it’s time to finally share the news of his arrival. We love you endlessly.’

Lauren followed suit on her own page, adding: ‘Ryden Caspian Paul. We’ve spent the last month getting acquainted with this little guy and we couldn’t be more in love.

‘Born on a full moon, he has such a gentle and knowing spirit. I’m so deeply thankful that he chose us to be a part of his journey.

Aaron isn’t the only famous face who has made a U-turn on their child’s name shortly after registering it.

Kylie Jenner made headlines around the world when she gave birth to her son in February, and introduced us all to baby Wolf shortly after.

She then sparked intense confusion when she announced that his name was no longer Wolf, but has still not confirmed his identity just yet.

During a recent episode of the Kardashians, the Lip Kit mogul reflected on this, confessing that they had not legally made the switch.

‘We didn’t really have a name, I just thought it was going to come to us when we saw him and it didn’t,’ she told momager Kris Jenner.

’24 hours before we had to sign the birth certificate, or else they just register him without a name and he doesn’t get a social security number… So I felt the pressure to choose a name, and then Khloe said, the day before we sign, “What about Wolf?”.

‘I like the WW, so we just put Wolf Webster in that moment. Right after I signed the birth certificate, I was like, “What did I just do?” It’s a part of his story but his name has changed.’
