Many wondered whether it was the festival for the former Culture Secretary who wanted to privatise Channel 4.

In an attempt to live like the rest of us, Nadine Dorries shared her anguish at trying to get Glastonbury tickets.
Punters joined the queue for the annual scrimmage for tickets on Thursday, as the first lot of the 2023 places went up for sale with coach packages.
Much like every other year, they sold out in minutes, but before they did the MP shared a screenshot of her own mission to land a ticket.
She wrote: ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try… Again.’
It is not certain whether the MP and former cabinet minister, who championed the privatisation of Channel 4, was successful.
While it may have been a relief for some to see that the former Culture Secretary didn’t get any special queue-jumping privileges for the biggest music festival in the country, which previously welcomed then-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn to the Pyramid stage in 2017, the people were well and truly baffled by her post.
‘…from my understanding, the festival celebrates music, diversity, culture, humanity, togetherness etc…so what on earth is she going for?’ one wrote, as another added it was ‘the day Glastonbury finally died for me’.
As some shared it helped take the sting out of not getting a ticket themselves if Ms Dorries would be there, one confused Twitter user mused: ‘Isn’t Glastonbury a bit to “tofu eating, Guardian reading, wokeirati” for the tories?’

That sentiment was echoed by another who wrote: ‘Full of woke, CH4 watching people Nads, not for you love x.’
Right on schedule, and without the lineup being announced, Glastonbury organisers revealed that ticket-and-coach packages for the 2023 festival sold out within half an hour, after going on sale at 6pm.
At 6.23pm on Thursday, Glastonbury’s official account posted: ‘The Glastonbury 2023 coach + ticket packages on sale this evening have now all been sold.

‘Thank you to everyone who bought one. Standard tickets are on sale at 9am GMT on Sunday morning (and @nationalexpress will offer coach travel to standard ticket holders from across the UK).’
It beat 2019’s timeframe, after the festival announced at 6.27pm that year that coach tickets had sold out for Glastonbury 2020.
There is still hope for anyone who missed out last night, with standard tickets for 2023 going on sale on Sunday November 6 at 9am.
Standard tickets cost £335 plus a £5 booking fee, with £50 as a deposit and the balance due by the first week of April.
This year’s event cost £280 plus a £5 booking following a £15 increase.
The festival celebrated its 50th year this summer after the Covid pandemic forced its cancellation twice and will return to Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 21 to 25 2023.
It remains to be seen whether Ms Dorries will be there.
