Denise Van Outen has said she ‘wouldn’t change’ her ex Eddie Boxshall cheating on her, as it’s led her to where she is now.

In January, the star broke up with Eddie, her partner of seven years after discovering sexually explicit messages to other women on his phone. She’s since moved on with property developer Jimmy Barba.

Speaking about the ordeal, Denise, 48, explained: ‘Obviously those things weren’t nice to go through, but where I’m at now with Jimmy [Barba], who has such a good energy, everything was worth it.

‘Honestly, I feel like I’m in a nice, happy, good place. I wouldn’t change anything. And there were so many positives that came out of it.’

She added to The Sun’s Fabulous Magazine that she’s reconnected with a lot of old friends, she’s been in therapy, and now she’s learning to set boundaries.

In January this year, Denise announced that she had broken up with Eddie, saying in a statement: ‘Over the past couple of months, there has been much speculation regarding my relationship with Eddie. It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple.’

She continued: ‘I had to make the difficult decision not to continue in our relationship. I will always treasure the good times we spent together, and the memories made.’

City trader Eddie first remained tight-lipped on the split but later admitted to the messages. However, he insisted it happened only one time after he had been drinking, and claimed other photos of women on his iPad were entirely innocent.

‘I hurt Denise, I broke her trust and I’m deeply sorry. I’m sitting here to say I hold my hands up to what I’ve done wrong,’ Eddie told The Sun On Sunday in May.

‘I deeply regret that I sent those messages.’

Eddie said at the time that he had ‘tried to apologise’ to Denise and sent her countless text messages and emails, adding that he’s ‘embarrassed and I’m ashamed’.

He also recently spoke out on the split and Denise’s new romance, saying: ‘You know any break-up’s hard, for whatever reason, and it makes it worse, you know, certain things get printed in the press. And there’s two sides to every story.’

He added to The Sun: ‘There is no animosity. Life goes on, The world carries on going round. She’s happy. I’m really happy she’s moved on. And I wish [her] all the love and luck in the world.’

Denise went public with her new man, property developer Jimmy, in June, sharing the red carpet with him at the lavish Grand Prix Ball in London.
