Glastonbury Festival organisers said tickets at the 2023 event sold out after an hour of chaos, with fans desperately attempting to secure a spot at the iconic festival.
Next year’s festival will take place between June 21 and 25 next year, with a line-up still to be announced.
General sale began at 9am on Sunday, with a statement from Glastonbury coming just after 10am to announce that tickets had all sold out.
It read: ‘Tickets for Glastonbury 2023 have now Sold Out. Thank you to everyone who bought one and we’re sorry to those of you who missed out, on a morning when demand far exceeded supply. There will be a resale of any cancelled or returned tickets in spring 2023.’
It didn’t help that the site appeared to crash during the sale, with See Tickets providing updates.
One read: ‘We’re working on a technical problem. If you’re trying to book @glastonbury tickets please bear with us – we’ll be back up and running soon.’
However, some fans hit back at the statement, claiming they managed to get tickets after the 10am mark.
‘So I’ve just had the weirdest experience of my life. 10 minutes after Glastonbury tickets sold out my browser, still auto refreshing, went through to booking screen. Put in my details for a laugh and it took payment and confirmed booking,’ one tweeted.
‘Got Glastonbury tickets 10 minutes after they’d announced sellout, a real thrill to enter into the folklore of “I know a guy who once kept hitting refresh-“’ another said.
‘We just got Glastonbury tickets AFTER the sold out message went out, went through about 10:10. Keep trying until it doesnt let you try anymore!!’ one more added.
However, many fans ended up disappointed and empty handed, with one tweeting: ‘At this point it would be easier to start and band and play Glastonbury than it is to get tickets.’
‘Getting Glastonbury tickets is like dealing with a toxic partner: you can do everything right (be on time, make sure they’re well refreshed, integrate into friendship group) and still get nothing out of it,’ another said.
One more said: ‘Turns out the point of Daylight Savings in October is to give you the hour back that you waste failing to buy #Glastonbury tickets the following week.’
Fans were ready for the chaos, with coach tickets selling out last week within half an hour.
Tickets for the 2023 festival will cost £335 plus a £5 booking fee for standard tickets, with £50 as a deposit and the balance due by the first week of April.
This year’s event, the delayed 2020 festival, cost £280 plus a £5 booking following a £15 increase.
Organiser Emily Eavis addressed the backlash to the £340 ticket price during the current cost-of-living crisis shortly after it was announced, explaining that they had ‘tried very hard to minimise the increase’.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: ‘I wanted to post about the Glastonbury 2023 ticket price which was announced today.
‘We have tried very hard to minimise the increase in price on the ticket but we’re facing enormous rises in the costs of running this vast show, whilst still recovering from the huge financial impact of two years without a festival because of COVID.’
She continued: ‘The £50 deposit on ticket sales day in November will be the same as ever, with the balance not due until April. And, as always, there will be opportunities for many thousands of people to come as volunteers or part of the crew.
‘In these incredibly challenging times, we want to continue to bring you the best show in the world and provide our charities with funds which are more vital than ever. We are always, hugely appreciative, of your ongoing support.’
The line-up has not been confirmed, but stars including Eminem, Rihanna, and Arctic Monkeys are among the names to be rumoured to perform.
The festival celebrated its 50th year this summer after the coronavirus pandemic forced organisers to cancel twice.
