Comedian Peter Kay made a rare public appearance when he went to lunch with a friend and her terminally ill daughter.
The comedian, 49, headed to the White Swan at Fence in Burnley with Nicola Nuttall and her daughter Laura, who is battling stage four brain cancer.
According to Laura’s fundraising website, she was diagnosed at 18 in 2018 with Glioblastoma, an aggressive type of cancer that can occur in the brain or spinal cord.
Nicola updated those following her daughter’s journey with details of the meeting with the Phoenix Nights star.
‘Today’s joy has been a very special treat, the most wonderful lunch at @whiteswan_fence with #PeterKay for company.
‘Laughter won’t cure #Glioblastoma but it’s definitely a blimmin’ good distraction for a couple of hours.’

After being asked by a follower what Kay was like in real life, she replied he is ‘the nicest, most thoughtful and naturally hilarious person’ you could meet.
‘We’re lucky to have him as a friend x,’ she added.
Following recent surgery, she is returning for radiotherapy as the cancer has spread.
An update on the Doing It For Laura Facebook page reads: ‘Bad news I’m afraid.
Laura’s tumour has grown back within 2 wks of surgery & moved into new areas of the brain, explaining her recent headaches.

‘Radiotherapy has now been brought forward to Monday. It’s fair to see we’re devastated and disappointed, especially when Laura had recovered so well from the surgery but unfortunately Glioblastoma is a really aggressive cancer. Will keep you posted x’
After cancelling his comeback tour for personal reasons, Kay will be bringing a new stage show to the UK next year, The Sun reported.
