Once them clocks go back, there’s really only one thing people count down to – and it isn’t Christmas.

Winters have been defined by a new series of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here since the show started 20 years ago and, now, it just wouldn’t be the countdown to Christmas without seeing celebs like Boy George and Matt Hancock eat animal genitalia.

The iconic show was famous for its jungle setting since its inception in 2002 – that was right up until the Covid pandemic struck, and plans had to pivot.

In 2020, for the first time ever, the location for the show moved from the Aussie jungle to Gwrych Castle in Abergele, Wales.

But where is this year’s series being filmed?

Where is I’m a Celebrity 2022 taking place?

2022’s series of I’m a Celebrity will prove to be something of a homecoming.

ITV confirmed in August the show would return to filming in Australia, saying: ‘Returning to its home in Australia after a two-year break, our celebrities will leave their plush pads and luxuries far behind as they spend up to three weeks taking on the Australian jungle with a whole host of surprises created for them.’

Before Covid-19 forced the move to Wales, the famous camp was based in Springbrook National Park, located in New South Wales – about 100 miles south of Brisbane.

The 15,310-acre space is not in fact a jungle, but a rainforest.

It’s both Unesco World Heritage and Australian Heritage listed.

The Sun reported that numerous new structures have been put up on the film set, as well as treetop walkways, which are said to resemble a small village.

Going back to Oz might be exciting for many, but the return has been quite rocky.

The set was forced to close due to adverse weather causing severe flooding. A spokesperson confirmed: ‘We closed site for 24 hours as a precautionary measure due to the inclement weather.’

Here’s hoping it’s all smooth sailing from here.
